Power Breath (Brace & Lift)

Braced breath for max-strength lifts and explosive efforts.

Used by powerlifters, Olympic lifters and strongman athletes. Deep belly inhale, brace the core, perform the lift, then exhale. Stabilises the spine via intra-abdominal pressure. Not for those with uncontrolled hypertension.

How to practice

  1. Deep Inhale for 3 seconds (through the nose)
  2. Brace & Hold for 4 seconds
  3. Forceful Exhale for 2 seconds (through the mouth)

Benefits

When to practice

Heavy compound lifts (squat, deadlift, bench, clean). One brace per rep.

Safety

Not suitable for: Pregnancy, High blood pressure, Heart conditions, Recent abdominal or pelvic surgery.
