Hypoxic Swim Ladder
Performance · Advanced · 8 rounds
Stroke-timed holds that train relaxed swimming on less air.
Simulates hypoxic swim sets on dry land: a quick inhale, a long relaxed hold standing in for 5-7 strokes, then a full underwater-style exhale. Builds the calm-under-air-debt that separates smooth swimmers from panicked ones. Never practice holds in water alone.
How to practice
- Quick Inhale for 2 seconds (through the mouth)
- Hold (Strokes) for 6 seconds
- Exhale (Underwater) for 4 seconds (nose or mouth)
Benefits
- Comfort on fewer breaths
- Smoother stroke rhythm
- Less turn-and-gasp panic
- Better open-water composure
When to practice
Dry-land: 2-3 sessions weekly. Stop immediately if dizzy.
Safety
Not suitable for: Pregnancy, Heart conditions.
Dry land only. Never practice breath holds in water without a trained buddy.
