Freedive Prep Breathe-Up

Performance · Advanced · 5 rounds

Slow, long exhales to prepare for a single deep breath-hold.

The 'breathe-up' before a static hold: long slow exhales drop heart rate and prepare the body. End with one full diaphragmatic inhale before the hold. Never hyperventilate.

How to practice

  1. Inhale for 4 seconds (through the nose)
  2. Exhale (Long) for 10 seconds (through the mouth)

Benefits

When to practice

Pre-dive only. 2-3 minutes of breathe-up before each attempt.

Safety

Not suitable for: Pregnancy, Heart conditions.

Never practice in water alone. Do not hyperventilate before a hold.

This is general information, not medical advice. Check with a clinician if you are pregnant, managing a health condition, or unsure whether a practice suits you.
