Energizing Breath

Short, powerful breaths to boost alertness.

Inspired by Kapalabhati (Skull-Shining Breath). Rapid forceful exhales with passive inhales - increases oxygen to the brain and creates an invigorating sensation.

How to practice

  1. Inhale for 2 seconds (through the nose)
  2. Exhale for 2 seconds (through the nose)

Benefits

When to practice

Once in morning or early afternoon. Avoid before bed. 3 rounds of 20-30 breaths.

Safety

Not suitable for: Pregnancy, High blood pressure, Glaucoma or raised eye pressure, Recent abdominal or pelvic surgery.

Stop at the first sign of light-headedness. Sit down - never do this standing.
