Light Breathing (Buteyko)
Calm · Intermediate · 8 rounds
Breathe less, gently. Builds CO2 tolerance and calm.
The Buteyko method reduces breathing volume slightly below normal - soft, quiet nasal breaths with a relaxed pause. A mild 'air hunger' is the goal: it raises CO2 tolerance, which improves oxygen delivery and calms over-breathing patterns behind anxiety.
How to practice
- Soft Inhale for 3 seconds (through the nose)
- Soft Exhale for 4 seconds (through the nose)
- Relaxed Pause for 3 seconds
Benefits
- Normalises over-breathing
- Raises CO2 tolerance
- Reduces breathlessness
- Supports nasal breathing habits
When to practice
10 minutes daily. Breathing should stay soft - never strained.
Safety
Not suitable for: Pregnancy.
